A variety of hog peanut that is more robust, has larger leaflets (terminal leaflets can be as long as 10 cm) and purple flowers. Shoots and seed pods are covered in tawny hairs. There is also a difference in the growing habit: while A. bracteata remains mostly as a groundcover or twine delicately around nearby plants, var. comosa growing more vigorous has a pronounce tendency of twining and climbing like seen in the image.
