I grew this lilliputian Aquilegia with an unclear identity from seeds, and offered it as Aquilegia ‘Blue Crossings’.
I’ve re-done it from seeds one year and it came true; just when I was starting to wonder it may be a species, luckily someone saw a picture and said – it looks like A. bertolonii! Good news, considering that this is a species that comes true from seeds reliable.
The perfect columbine for a small nook in the rockery or trough; small colonies are delightful :)
Germination: easy; seeds need to be covered superficially. They germinate best after a short cold-moist stratification period (easily replaced by GA3 treatment if you are in a hurry). Will start to flower in the second/third year.
