I don’t know why but Iliamna is a rare plant in cultivation. It forms a bushy clump like many Malvaceae and is covered in hollyhock-like pink flowers over a long period of time (June to September); lobed, large leaves.
Beautiful in any sunny spot of the garden and a good pollinator plant.
Germination: the seeds have a very hard seedcoat, in the wild the germination is often triggered after wildfires. The most effective treatment for home germination is scarification with boiling water (2 min) followed by cold/moist stratification for 1 month.
