Description
The so called Russian Hibiscus, which is neither Russian in origin nor a Hibiscus ;) is a perennial plant that looks more like a shrub, or at least that’s what came to my mind the first time I saw it.
Excellent large plant for the edge of a shaded area, although I understand that it can also be grown in full sun.
Large, white malva-like flowers that provide a continuous display from July to fall, with leaves resembling those of Vitis sp. (grapevines), hence the epithet vitifolia. The foliage remains green looking until very late fall, an added bonus.
Germination: warm germinator; soak the seeds for a few days.
