A very interesting and beautiful member of Caryophyllaceae that, I don’t know why, is rarely cultivated. Small size, mat forming species with tiny petalless flowers in terminal clusters surrounded by petal-like, papery white or silvery floral bracts. Fantastic when in flower!
Germination: in one trial involving cold/moist stratification for about 1 month and then shifting to room temperature, the germination started after two weeks. Very good germination and easy to grow seedlings.
I can now (July) show a small but very cute plant, already out in the rockery! – see the image gallery.
