A small size, tufted, evergreen fern with broadly triangular blades, hence the name. The common one alludes to the golden backs of the leaves, glittering in the sun when the leaves curl up in the dry season (like shown in the image).
The perfect fern for the rockery, it can also grow in full sun! Probably not hardy in zone 5 but otherwise I wonder why is not cultivated more; worth to give it a try.
Germination: growing ferns from spores requires a different technique. It is not difficult, if you are new at this check out The American Fern Society advice: Nine Easy (if you are patient) Steps for Growing Ferns. In fact, it is not that you need to be more patient than when growing other species ;)
