Beautiful and unmistakable orchid if you see it in flower. ‘Psycodes’ = butterfly-like, hints to the general shape of the pink flowers which have a fringe lip. ‘Small’ from the common name, comes from the fact that there also is a Large purple fringed orchid – P. grandiflora.
For those who have the abilities to grow orchids; otherwise don’t buy the seeds.
Germination: like for all orchids, difficult and best to use ‘in vitro’ techniques. Few people claim they have germinated them by sowing close to another orchid in the garden, where the soil already contains the necessary mycorrhiza.
