A low cushion saxifrage, from what has become now the ‘exarata complex’. S. exarata ssp. exarata hairy, variable leaves, usually 5mm long and three to five lobed, the lobes being furrowed on their upper surfaces. Flowering stems 5-12cm tall bearing panicles of three to eight, creamy-white or white flowers.
In the image – the very similar S. exarata ssp. moschata (wild in the Carpathians Mts) – just to show the growing habit.
Germination: like for all Saxifraga. This is definitely one for the collector; few seeds available (wild collected in the Caucasus).
