The Iron weeds are quite common garden plants in North America. This one grows tall and flowers towards the end of summer, with small but numerous deep purple tubular flowers/heads in terminal clusters. Although tall, it is a sturdy plant that doesn’t require support; in time it will form a nice, well branched clump.
Simply superb for the back of the flower bed and very useful for the pollinators!
Germination: sown in the fall or spring (requires 3 months of cold/moist).
