Description
A very nice rock jasmine for the rockery with small rosettes of evergreen, narrow leaves and inflorescences with white flowers.
It usually goes by the name of Androsace carnea ssp. or var. brigantiaca in the gardeners circles, which is not correct Androsace carnea being in fact a syn. name for a different species – A. laggeri, but let’s not digress.
This cute Androsace needs a full sun location and good drainage, otherwise it seems easy to grow. Said to be short lived, but I cannot attest to the statement.
Germination: sow the seeds in late fall or provide 1-2 months of cold/moist stratification before bringing the pot in a warmer location (for those who want to start it under indoor lights). The seedlings are very thin and are best transplanted in bunches.
