Description
A dwarf form of A. flabellata with bluish-green, fan-shaped, glaucous foliage and large flowers with violet-blue sepals and spurs plus creamy-white petals. A proud owner of the Award of Garden Merit (RHS) and rightly so, although this variety (pumila) it is not botanically recognized anymore.
A good dwarf columbine for the rockery, front of a flower border and troughs. The foliage is rarely affected by the leaf miner, which is a plus for any A. flabellata form.
Germination: easy from fresh seeds with a note that older seeds of this species will have poor germination. These are freshly coll. seeds in 2024 so no problem. They germinate best after a short cold-moist stratification period (or easily replaced by a GA3 treatment if you are in a hurry).
