Description
Arisaema amurense it is a species with a large distribution and therefore can be highly variable; actually said to be one of the most variable species when it comes to height, color, leaf size…. A very cold hardy and easy to grow species.
The dark form has the inside of the spathe purple-striped and the leaves are quite large (see pictures). The seedlings will develop a leaf with 3 folioles and only in next years a leaf with 5-folioles. For this reason, some people are confusing it with Arisaema triphyllum, although the foliage is very distinct.
Germination: warm germinator. In the first season, the seedlings will have a short growing period and then will go dormant; avoid over-watering the pot when dormant. Leave the little tubers to grow in the sowing pot for at least 2-3 years (or, if in need to transplant them in a bigger pot do it when dormant).
