Description
We can only grow the blood flower as an annual in our cold climate, bringing a splash of bold colors with its red orange flowers with yellow hoods. The flowers are very showy and enjoyed by pollinators. It can be also grown in containers with other annual plants.
Tropical milkweeds can cause problems for the monarchs migration, when planted in warmer temperate areas where it does not die back in winter. But this is of no concern for those in a harsh climate, zone 5-6 and below.
Germination: warm germinator, sow in the spring.
