Description
The Wavy hair grass is a cool season grass with an incredible fine texture (like most Deschampsia species; some are still calling it D. flexuosa actually).
It forms a tuft of dense, very thin, deep-green leaves and flowering stems with arching, loose, airy panicles; bronze purple then turning gold when the seeds ripen – a most beautiful aspect; they can last long into the winter.
It is a drought resistant species that can be grown in part-shade, solitary or in groups; it prefers slightly acidic soils. I’ve also seen it growing well in full sun but it probably depends on the moisture levels.
Germination: warm germinator.
