Description
A very interesting biennial species, especially in our cold climate because it looks more like a houseplant. It is fully hardy though in zone 5 and perfect for the rockery. It develops a rosette about 15-20 cm diam. with bluish, cream veined leaves. It will overwinter as such, then in the next year it will flower and vanish.
The flowers are insignificant on branched stems with dry, whitish and persistent calyces; the stems could be used in dry arrangements.
Usually reseeds in place if the place allows it.
Germination: warm germinator; very easy and fun to grow in the depth of the winter! (for those with an indoor light stand). If not, sow the seeds outdoors when the weather allows in your region. The seedlings will be ready for pricking out in about a month from sowing.
