Description
Just like C. glabra, this species will form clumps with stiff branches which are covered in late summer by snapdragon-like, large pink flowers. The late flowering is outstanding going on for weeks as the flowers open gradually. For this reason the seeds mature very late and in years with early winters it is impossible to collect any seeds.
A beautiful species for native gardens and it seems to be drought tolerant despite the growing conditions encountered in its wild habitats. The bumblebees are simply in love with Chelone species.
Germination: cold/moist stratification; sow in late fall/winter.
