Description
The white flowered counterpart of Delphinium fissum, with the same exquisite, tall and narrow flower panicles, with packed flowers opening over a long period of time; they are enjoyed by pollinators in mid -summer.
It is a tuberous Delphinium so it will not flower too fast from seeds (in the 3th or 4th year) but worth the wait!
For a part shaded or full sun position, in a well drained substrate. Grow it together with the similar, electric blue Delphinium fissum.
Germination: like for most Ranunculaceae, the mature seeds contain an under-developed embryo, which in most cases require first a slightly warm stratification before cold/moist stratification, in order to germinate.
It is best to sow the seeds in late fall to provide a slightly warm period before the cold (winter). The germination can be irregular from my experience and can happen in the second year. The seedlings are small in the first season, best to grow them in the same pot for 2 years.
