Description
Like the common name implies, this is a very tall native larkspur with lavender-blue flowers opening gradually on a loose large, branched inflorescence in late summer, i.e. mid-August to September.
An excellent species for the late summer blooming display and for the pollinators. I love the fact that it is tall but slender so it doesn’t take too much space in the flower bed. For a late summer flowering combo try it together with Lobelia siphilitica, L. cardinalis and Ipomopsis rubra; the hummingbirds may have a heart attack :))

Germination: cold/moist stratification.
