Description
As I already stated this is my favourite fringed, fragrant Dianthus: small size, heavenly scented and long lived species; it forms a low mound of bluish-green fine leaves from which slender flower stems are bending graciously outwards.
It fits well in any rockery, troughs, looking at its best when planted at height: in a dry-stone wall, or over a boulder, in a raised container…
Germination: easy and equally easy to grow, comparing with other alpine plants; for full sun location or with some shade in the afternoon in very hot regions. The mother plant was raised from wild coll. seeds in the Carpathian Mts. but there are similar species in the rockery (Dianthus spiculifolius) and cross-pollination cannot be excluded.
