Description
A very similar species with Dianthus petraeus but with slightly more fringed white flowers, extremely fragrant and arising from a low mound of gray-green foliage. The flowering stems bend downwards so it also benefits from planting on a rock-wall or a top position in the rockery.
The mother plant was raised from wild coll. seeds in the Carpathian Mts. (Romania); being grown the garden now, cross-pollination is possible.
Various offerings in the trade showing flowers with a red central ring, are all hybrids or cultivars.
Germination: at room temperature, easy to grow.
