Description
Leaves with more than 3 lobes are very rare for Hepatica americana, so I sort of made up the fo. diversiloba a couple of years ago (fo. diversiloba is accepted for Hepatica acutiloba). It needs to be distinguished somehow, so furthermore I named it ‘Harlequin’ for the flowers coloration. They are very interesting: white and pink and various proportion, on the same plant.
A solitary specimen to which I go to say ‘hello’ every spring. I play ant some years and bury a portion of seeds nearby (you cannot count on them of carrying the seeds to the right place!).
Germination:
Hepatica seeds may all germinate in the first spring after sowing; or they may germinate after one more year, or a combination of both. It is necessary to take care of the pots during all this time! The first flowering: after 3-4 years.
