Description
One thing some people are reproaching to Hepaticas (how do they dare?!) is that the flowers do not last too long. True, especially if it warms up very fast in early spring. So, breeders have been working to obtain more ‘ornamental’ foliage to make up for the short flowering time.
The pioneer of these crossings was the renown of Hepatica world Severin Schlyter from Sweden. He has worked on crosses to create Hepatica leaf shapes for many years with many forms obtained, then other breeders continued to use its forms for other crosses.
Now on the market there is a whole variety of leaf forms each one with its own charm.
The mix contains seeds from crosses with H. nobilis fo. crenatiloba and from the beautiful ‘Cremar’. The seedlings will vary of course and all will be wonderful to have.
Germination: instructions will be provided with the seeds.
Hepatica seeds may all germinate in the first spring after sowing; or they may germinate after one more year, or a combination of both. It is necessary to take care of the pots during all this time! The first flowering: after 3-4 years.
