Description
All Blazing stars are handsome species and looked after by the butterflies, but this species seems to particularly attract the monarch butterflies. It may be because its flowering time, end of July- August happens when the monarchs begin their migration.
The purple feathery flower heads which appear on tall flowering stems are not only beautiful but perform a most needed function. Bumble bees, other butterflies and insects are also enjoying the flowers nectar.
Germination: moist/cold stratification (sow in the fall).
