Description
A very floriferous and delicate looking Lobelia with narrow leaves and blue/lavender flowers that grows in moist places, including in rock crevices and among boulders.
A good species to incorporate in the moist side of a rockery, or any other slightly moist garden location (edge of ponds, waterfalls….). It may be delicate looking, just like Campanula rotundifolia, but perfectly cold hardy.
Not easy to differentiate from L. spicata, when they are found growing in the same locations. Last year, at least part of the seeds offered as L. spicata might have been from L. kalmii, so those who purchased seeds please get in touch: Contact form.
Germination: 2-3 months of moist/cold stratification; sow superficial (light for germination). The first seedlings leaves look a bit different than what you may expect (like for many other species from Campanula family).
