Description
Pale-spiked Lobelia has bluish flowers with a white throat disposed along slender stems. Although the common name suggests a pale blue flower colour, it is a variable character throughout its native range.
Like all Lobelias, the flowers are attractive for pollinators, mainly long-tongue bees.
It is a species with a great plasticity, found in a variety of habitats. I see it nice in a rockery, combined with Campanula rotundifolia and Solidago simplex, for a ‘native’ combo.
Germination: 2-3 months of moist/cold stratification; sow superficial (light for germination). The first seedlings leaves look a bit different than what you may expect (like for many other species from Campanula family).
