Description
The bog aster is a very interesting species among other Asters, no wonder it was changed to Oclemena. Particular not only because of its chosen growing conditions, but also due to its aspect: with very narrow leaves, almost linear with recurved margins.
Flowers head solitary or an inflorescences in late summer-early fall with light lilac ray florets.
Those who have bogs, ponds with wet edges should definitely give it a try.
Medicinally, it was reported that the Native people used a decoction of the root (probably rhizome) as drops or on a compress for sore ears.
Germination: sow in late fall/early winter in case it needs cold/moist stratification (which I can’t tell for sure).
