Description
Like other people I was intrigued seeing pictures of this ‘rare’ black flowered poppy, so I had to grow it. It comes true from seeds, so soon it will not be ‘rare’ anymore.
An interesting color flower with a nice contrast with the yellowish-green anthers; flowers about 4 cm in diam., so not very large, comparing with other poppies. After the pollination, the outer edges of the petals fade to orange, for another interesting look.
Probably it will make for an interesting combination with Papaver atlanticum ‘Flore-Pleno’.
Germination: the seeds need to be sown superficial (like for all poppies) and will germinate at room temp. AFTER at least 1 month of cold -moist stratification.
