Description
I know there are many cultivars of Salvia out there but I grew this form of Salvia pratensis from wild collected seeds in the Carpathian Mts. many years ago and I am fond of it. It has beautiful large blue flowers like seen in the featured image, on a rather compact clump; I could almost give it a cultivar name ;) A good friend for bees and butterflies.
I don’t always collect seeds from it but with this year drought I thought to offer it because it did very well. Other species that are naturally growing in the same wild habitat and can also be grown from seeds are: Dictamnus albus, Anthericum ramosum, Delphinium fissum.
Germination: warm, slow germinator; sow superficial.
