Description
Antennaria rosea belongs to the group of ‘mat- forming’, stoloniferous pussytoes species, which are not easy to identify because of the widespread polyploidy and apomixy. It has a wide distribution, it grows in a variety of habitats and thus can be morphologically variable.
It seems that all characters of the mother-plants fit in with the A. rosea group, it is hard to tell the subspecies though. We can only approximate it for now after the collection site as being ssp. pulvinata.
The compact silvery, woolly foliage of the species is very ornamental and the flower heads can be cream to light pink.
It is an excellent pussytoes for rockeries in a moist but with good drainage substrate.
Germination: sow in late fall/winter (cold/moist stratification); sow superficial.
