Description
A very tall and vigorous Aquilegia with blue flowers which showed up in my garden; the picture cannot really show its impressive stature, most probably a hybrid or polyploid from Aquilegia nigricans.
A stunningly large and floriferous columbine, which grows very well in a part-shaded position. Very nice in combination with a yellow flowering plant (Zizia aurea for example).
Germination: easy; seeds need to be covered superficially. They germinate best after a short (3-4 weeks) cold-moist stratification period; this can be easily replaced by a GA3 treatment if you are in a hurry.
