Asphodeline damascena

Description

A pretty striking biennial plant, which despite its native regions it is hardy enough to be grown in a 5 cold zone.
The bluish, evergreen fleshy foliage in a large rosette is ornamental in itself, but in the second year we can also enjoy tall spikes of white flowers that open gradually in the summer over a long period.

Excellent plant for xeriscaping or any full sun, well drained locations. Sometimes sold as Asphodeline taurica.

Germination: warm germinator but the seeds have a hard seedcoat and a short cold/moist stratification (2-3 weeks) will speed up the germination.
Biennial, so sow 1/2 of the packet in successive years to assure continuity. It may also self-seed in  a proper location.
