Description
A very attractive cultivar of the shrubby Clematis heracleifolia, with deep green foliage and equally deep violet flowers in late August/September. Not only beautiful but also pollinator friendly.
It emerges late from the ground, so best to have something else around in the spring; I personally grow a Corydalis nobilis close to it (a large, early flowering Corydalis which goes dormant in early summer).
Germination: not sure, better to be safe and sow in late fall/winter to provide cold/moist stratification. Or, try it as a warm germinator and if it doesn’t work move the pots to a cold location.
