Description
I actually never had the chance to see the Moccasin flower at blooming time, when it is most impressive with its large deep red pouches.
This is an orchid found on areas with acidic soil and although some people claim that it tolerates various degrees of soil of moisture, I’ve never seen it growing except in rather moist forests; plus, definitely it enjoys cooler summers. It couldn’t be cultivated in S. Ontario like Cypripedium parviflorum for example.
Germination: as usual for orchids; these seeds should be tried by someone with knowledge of ‘in vitro’ propagation.
