Description
Like the name implies, Dianthus superbus is a superb species in all its forms. The subsp. sajanensis, draw its name from the Sayan Mountains and has large, pink, deeply fringed and fragrant flowers usually in June! Given its natural distribution it also has a very good cold hardiness.
It will grow best in a rather moist garden location. Fast growing and flowering; it can flower in the second year when grown from seeds.
Germination: best after providing 3-4 weeks of cold/moist stratification, then treated as a warm germinator. It can be started early at room temperature, or time the cold stratification accordingly and sow outdoors in the spring when weather allows.
