Description
The Gas plant is well known to the gardeners but not enough cultivated I would say, probably because it has to be started from seeds and a bit slow to reach flowering stage (4-5 years).
But its beautiful dark green, glossy, fragrant foliage and pink flowers are well worth the effort; after it gets established, it is a long lived, easy maintenance perennial enjoyed by butterflies, and not only. It grows well in a full sun location with good drainage; also good in a large rockery, rocky slope…
Of course that it can also be used to play with fire ;)
Germination: best sown in the fall, or any time but it needs cold/moist stratification for 2-3 months.
