Description
The mountain sandwort was found growing with Lomatium sandbergii on Mt. Baldy and since I have a weakness for Arenaria and Minuartia species, I couldn’t abstain from collecting seeds. A cespitose perennial with woody base, it forms a mound of soft grass-like leaves and inflorescences with white small flowers (the reddish anthers make a nice contrast).
Great addition for the rockery in part-shade.
Germination: probably warm germinator like many Arenaria and Minuartia species.Update: cold-moist stratification required; sow in late fall/winter.
