Description
The provenience of these seeds is a beautiful clump of Gentiana paradoxa hybrid, which grows close to a true Gentiana paradoxa. So, there may be double cross pollinated with Gentiana paradoxa!
Deep blue flowers in clusters at the top of trailing stems (nr. of flowers/clusters variable) in August. Please read more about G. paradoxa, Gentiana septemfida and their hybrids here: Marvellous Gentiana.
The resulting seedlings will for sure be variable, some may take more after G. septemfida and some after G. paradoxa; it will take about 3 years to be able to tell. The foliage of very young seedlings is similar. Easy to grow in sun to part-shade locations in a well-drained substrate.
Germination: sow the seeds in late fall/early winter and provide cold/moist stratification. GA3 treatment can also be tried for starting the germination indoors but beware the elongation of the seedlings if the concentration is too high. Natural cold/moist stratification sometimes works best. The seedlings may be too tiny to be transplanted in the first season.
