Description
The gibberellic acid can be used as a seeds treatment to improve the germination for hard to germinate species, older seeds, and to hurry up the germination for other species. It will usually replace the seeds need of cold/moist stratification.
Also, for species which have seeds with immature embryos (mainly Ranunculaceae), GA3 has been found useful to promoting embryo growth, so indirectly it will improve germination.
Use it in powder form or prepare a solution – please read about how to easily prepare a solution HERE
Keep the powder/solution in the fridge and label clearly the content.
Keep in mind that treating seeds with GA3 will not produce miracles. Many times the seedlings will elongate and fail to grow well. Traditional cold/moist stratification outdoors over the winter it is still the best option for those living in a cold climate.
