Description
The nomenclature regarding P. mascula group is quite complicated and authors not always agree between them.
In any case, we tried to ID the specimen as best as possible.
The seeds offered are from a garden grown specimen in our cold climate (zone 5-6) – shown in the picture. It emerges quite early in the spring and is and extremely vigorous and floriferous specimen with large deep pink flowers and glaucous foliage with a reddish tint on the petioles. Not very productive when it comes to seeds though, maybe because many times the flowers are caught up in late frosts.
Like with all garden grown peonies, take it lightly when it comes to the species name because they could be hybrids and/or hybridize in the garden if other peonies are present.
Germination: warm/cold cycles.
