Description
Papaver atlanticum ‘Flore Pleno’ (syn. Papaver rupifragum subsp. atlanticum ‘Flore-Pleno’ ) is a real tough poppy with blue-green hairy leaves in rosettes and flower stems up to 50-60 cm; large, apricot-orange semi double flowers all summer long!
It combines well with pretty much everything else in the garden: Aquilegia, Iris sibirica, other poppies, Penstemons…
Drought and cold resistant, probably only a spot with bad drainage would make it disappear. You will get around a few seedlings once it’s in your garden but it forms a tap root so it is best to share seeds with your friends.
Germination: warm germinator; a very easy method is to sprinkle the seeds directly in the garden in the fall/or spring and later remove the extra seedlings you don’t need.
