Description
A very interesting and I don’t know why rarely cultivated member of Caryophyllaceae, especially being very easy to grow from seeds.
A mat forming species with small, needle-like leaves and tiny petalless flowers in terminal clusters surrounded by petal-like, attractive papery white or silvery floral bracts. Due to the papery floral bracts it seems to remain ‘in flower’ for a long time.
A splendid plant for the rockery! For a full sun location with excellent drainage, I emphasize the drainage.
Germination: warm germinator, easy. Maybe sow half of the packet and keep the remaining to repeat the sowing the next year, if necessary. Do not transplant the tiny seedlings, rather plant the whole bunch to obtain faster a nice clump. Location, location….full sun, excellent drainage!
