Description
A large perennial plant, with a shrubby aspect actually; compound leaves and inflorescences of yellow flowers in late summer.
It is a species attracting a large host of beneficial insects, through the nectaries present on the leaf petioles and the flowers pollen.
Said to become rare in the wild habitat, deserves a place in a wildflower garden, at the back of a flower border or any other full sun/light shaded location. Like all Fabaceae it fixes nitrogen by the root nodules.
Germination: best when the seeds are scarified (rub between sheets of sandpaper), provided with a short period of cold/moist +/- 2-3 weeks; then warm germinator.
Hot water treatment method can be tried as well. Update: not very promising results; scarification works best.
