Description
Sorbus scopulina is a variable large shrub (rarely as a small tree) when it comes to leaflet shape, number and pubescence. Because of these, some don’t distinguish different varieties, but I’ll keep the original name of the collection.
Beautiful pinnately compound leaves, turns yellow peachy in the fall. Large flat topped inflorescences of white to cream flowers are followed by attractive orange to scarlet berries in the fall. They persist through the winter and are appreciated by a variety of wildlife.
Germination: cold/moist stratification for 3-4 months. Soaking the seeds or a light scarification before sowing may improve the germination.
