Description
A smaller size Streptopus for the shaded garden collection. The precise identification is difficult in this case without the flowers; keep your label in case it needs correction.
The plants were growing in a mix with S. lanceolatus but were distinctly different.
Slender stems, usually unbranched with wheel shaped flowers, which are followed by bright red fruits.
Germination: the seeds are best sown fresh and allowed a slightly warm/moist stratification period (fall) followed by a cold period (winter). Grow for 2-3 years in the same pot.
When sowed too late in the winter, it will take 2 years to germinate and probably in lower percentage.
