Description
Formerly Aster laevis, the Smooth blue aster, will flower with many lavender/blue flowers in late summer; usually found growing in rocky, sandy habitats but will adapt well in regular garden beds (it will grow taller and more branched).
The nectar and pollen of the flower heads attract various bee species, wasps, butterflies and other insects.
One of my favourite ‘asters’; it is not easy to collect ‘good’ seeds of it, like in the case of many other Compositae.
Germination: warm germinator.
