The New England Aster is a super easy to grow, adaptable species which should be present in any garden. Forget about the double-flowered mums which are of no use to the pollinators (plus you have to buy them every year), or at least plant one fall Aster/Symphyotrichum for each potted mum you purchased.
There are also varieties of hardy mums which can be planted ;)
Germination: warm germinator.
