Description
A beautiful and trouble-free, small size lilac that usually will grow as a multi-stem form. Inflorescences with showy, fragrant, creamy-white flowers appear in early summer; attractive for the pollinators.
But its most ornamental feature, I would say, is the amber coloured, peeling bark in rich cinnamon flakes – an awesome look especially for the winter time; almost as beautiful as Acer griseum…(almost). See how it looks in a picture from the Morton Arboretum, until I find the one I have.
Germination: cold-moist stratification 1-3 months recommended. Lilacs are difficult to propagate from cuttings, much easier to grow from seed.
