Description
The American germander is a vigurous perennial, with light pink to deep pink flowers disposed in long inflorescences, typical of the mint family; the lower lip is very particular in this species acting as the landing pad for various pollinators.
It remains a good looking plant even after the flowers fade.
A very good pollinator plant for partially moist areas of the gardens, although it adapts well to regular soils, except the ones extremely dry. If the conditions are very good (enough moisture) it tends to form colonies, so it is actually best to grow it on the lean side. Most of the times I’ve seen growing well in part-shaded locations.
Germination: sow in late fall/early winter.
