Description
Verbesina is a tall perennial with bright yellow daisy-like flowers; the disc florets have a pincushion look. It also spreads not being a suitable species for small gardens.
On the other hand it attracts a large number of pollinators (called golden honey plant) and is larval host for various butterflies and deserves a place on large properties, naturalization areas, wildflowers meadows.
Wingstems are also plants on which you can experience if the conditions are right, interesting ribbons of ice flowers in late fall/early winter. Maybe worth growing one just for this reason.
Germination: cold/moist stratification for about a month; can be sown in late winter/ very early spring.
