Description
I don’t think I need to say much about this violet, except that it has yellow flowers with purple veins, It flowers in early spring and forms a nice, airy carpet perfect for letting taller perennials to show through it (non- stoloniferous).
The var. scabriuscula differs from the species pubescens by having smooth capsules and few other details (FNA). Depending on the source, you may find this form given as Viola pubescens fo. leiocarpa.
The seeds are light-cream to brown.
Germination: cold-moist stratification (+/- 2 months).
